Tribute to RAYMOND SPENCER

Died 16th Dec 2005. HUMBERSTON

RAYMOND SPENCER. Died 16th Dec 2005 RAYMOND SPENCER 1927 - 2005
This was a poem I wrote after I lost Ray, because it was how we met in 1950

MY SOLDIER BOY
Twinkling blue eye's, with a lovely smile
That said "come on babe be mine"
As you looked at me across that room
I raised my glass of wine.
You came across and took my hand
We walked out thro' the door,
And that - as we say was that, I was yours forever more
Now your twinkly eye's have gone
Your smile no longer smiles,
But they'll be in my heart forever now
As you walk your heavenly miles.

I didn't want you to leave me
That was selfish now I know,
You couldn't stand the pain anymore
You said "I'll have to go".
My mind is filled with memories
They help me thr'o each day,
I'll love and miss you alway- and
My tears are never far away.

It seems like only yesterday
When I still had you here,
I miss you more and more each day
But my memories I hold dear.

Time is passing oh so fast
The years - they simply fly away,
But, it only seems like yesterday
Since he was here - my beloved Ray.
We shared all joys and sadness
For over 54 lovely years,
I love and miss him oh so much
and still shed many tears.
I hope that he is waiting
for me to join him - where?
Then we'll be back together
and love again we'll share.

Ray
I loved you dearly then
I still love you dearly now,
You changed my life for ever,
You know -- I told you how.
If I could just see your twinkly eyes
And give you a kiss or two,
My life would be once more complete
Together - just us two.
