Val, Helen, Michael, Andrew, Alison & families wish to thank all family, friends & colleagues for their beautiful floral tributes, lovely cards and sincere messages of sympathy & condolence & all donations received following the death of Doug – everything provided much comfort in our hour of need. Special thanks to Alison for the lovely poem which was so apt; to Helen for the poem she wrote & bravely read at the Celebration of Doug’s life; to Aaron for the poem on behalf of all the grandchildren; to Michael for his background support; & to Andrew for his many roles – sourcing the music for the service; negotiating with the Telegraph regarding the publication of the lovely tribute; & liaising with the Health Tree Foundation regarding the funding for a television for the Oncology Department waiting room, as requested by Doug’s consultant. The funds raised have now been transferred & a ‘Wish’ created – hopefully the television will be installed shortly. The Celebration of Doug’s Life was held in the Gallery at the Discovery Centre, Cleethorpes – one of his favourite places. Special thanks for the memories, sayings and photographs used to create our lovely Memory Walls, which led to much discussion, amusement and reminiscing; and to Chris for creating the play-list of background music played throughout. Sincere thanks to the staff for their assistance and the wonderful buffet to make this a special, happy occasion – just what Doug would have wanted! Thank you to Mike Tombs for his comforting and uplifting words, and for the beautiful Order of Service & Remembrance cards. Finally, a very sincere thank you to Simon and his colleagues at Sentiments Funeral Home for their dignified, caring & efficient manner, & for their support before, during and after this very sad time.
